Contract term

Auto-renewal clause

A contract term that automatically renews the agreement for a further period unless one party gives notice of non-renewal within a defined window before expiry.

An auto-renewal (or 'evergreen') clause means the contract continues into a new term by default. The critical detail is the notice window: the number of days before expiry by which you must serve notice if you do not want to renew.

The real deadline is therefore not the expiry date — it is the expiry date minus the notice window. Miss it and you are committed to another term, often at revised pricing.

In UAE contracts, notice windows commonly range from 30 to 90 days. StartedUp extracts the window from each contract and computes the true last day to act.
