How we source our data

The most important thing about an answer is where it came from. StartedUp is built on a single rule: every figure we publish, and every finding in your contracts, is traced back to its source — with a date, a confidence level, and a link you can follow. Here's exactly how that works.

Primary sources only

We cite the original — government portals, free-zone authorities, regulators and published laws — not aggregators or hearsay. Every figure links to the exact page it came from so you can check it yourself.

Dated and confidence-rated

Each data point carries an 'as of' date and a confidence level. Regulations change; a figure without a date is a figure you can't trust, so we never publish one.

Honest about uncertainty

Where data is scraped but not yet expert-verified, we label it 'pending verification' rather than dressing it up as confirmed. We would rather show a caveat than imply false certainty.

Refreshed, not frozen

Sources are re-checked on a schedule so the answer you get reflects the current rule, not last year's — and corrections are made openly when a source changes.

For the market data

Our UAE business data covers free zones, licences, costs, timelines and laws across the country's jurisdictions. Each fact is scraped from a primary official source — the relevant authority's own website or a published regulation — and stored with its source URL, source name, an “as of” date and a confidence rating. On the page, you see the figure and the link side by side. Nothing is invented to fill a gap; where we don't have verified data, we say so.

For your contracts

The same principle governs the contract product. When StartedUp extracts a term or raises a red flag, it links back to the exact clause in your document — so your team verifies rather than trusts. Extractions below a confidence threshold are routed to human review before they drive any alert, draft notice or decision. Your contracts are never used to train any model, and everything the system does is recorded in an append-only audit trail. It is decision support, not legal advice.

Verifiable by design.
